Emily Ratajkowski is instantly recognizable by her freckles, pouty lips, and long, brown hair. But just like pretty much every other human being on Earth, the model, actor, and activist gets the urge to switch things up every now and then. (Remember when she briefly went pink?) And when she revealed last week that she’d dyed her hair blonde, the comments on her Instagram posts were largely celebratory. But inevitably, some people just had to complain that they didn’t want to see her with a different hair color, as if it’s somehow up to them.”Forever I have said that you can’t go wrong with anything you do. But this blond hair is big NO,” one commenter wrote, while another demanded, “Go back to brown!!!” — and those are only two of the rude remarks. At first, Ratajkowski ignored the unsolicited opinions, sharing several more posts of her new flaxen look throughout the week. The Kerastase spokesperson even shared which of the brand’s products she’s using to keep the blonde from getting brassy. However, on Friday, July 3, Ratajkowski couldn’t stay silent anymore. She took to her Instagram Stories to post a brief selfie video putting the naysayers in their place.”Hey everyone. This is a message for all the men — and the women — who’ve been commenting, ‘Go back to brunette,’ ‘You look so much better as a brunette,'” Ratajkowski says while running her fingers through her hair. “Stop telling women what to do with their hair. And their bodies.” Emily Ratajkowski/InstagramIt’s so simple, isn’t it? Maybe it will actually get through to the people who erroneously think that they’re entitled to not only see another person looking the way they want them to look but demand it from them.More on celebrity hair color:Now check out 100 years of blonde hair:Follow Marci on Instagram and Twitter, or subscribe to Allure’s newsletter for daily beauty stories delivered right to your inbox.
