June 28 marked the 20th anniversary of the BET Awards, which, due to COVID-19, was held virtually. While viewers missed out on the live performances they’re accustomed to seeing in normal times, pre-recorded numbers from artists like Megan Thee Stallion and Chloe x Halle were greeted with plenty of praise. Host Amanda Seales guided us through the night, giving us plenty of hairstyle inspiration for our next braiding appointment. She wasn’t the only one to serve major hair moments on Sunday. Viewers were pleasantly surprised to see former First Lady Michelle Obama with some tight curls as she presented the 2020 BET Humanitarian Award to Beyoncé. For the occasion, Obama recorded in what looked like an office space, wearing a black blazer with silver hoops and neutral makeup.Courtesy of Getty ImagesThe curls were the picture of wash-and-go goals: super defined and just barely grazing her shoulders. The darker brown roots fade seamlessly into a slightly lighter brown hue, making us wonder if the ombré was the natural result of the sun or if it was professionally done by the stylist. This isn’t the first time Mrs. O has worn her hair in a highly-textured state. Through the years, we’ve seen glimpses of her coils while she has been on vacation and even on the cover of the 2018 December/January issue of Essence Magazine. We can’t stop starring at how flawless her curls look, and hope the former First Lady gives us a tutorial soon.Read more stories about the 2020 BET Awards:Now watch Loren Gray’s 10-minute morning routine:Don’t forget to follow Allure on Instagram and Twitter.
